Angie’s sicky summer line-up of musical fun!

Does anybody else feel like their entire summer is already booked?

Buy your tickets in advance, or pay the price!

Besides the regular 9-6 that takes up approximately 45 hours of my week, the rest of my summer solstice is steadily filling up with the sweet sweet sound of live music.

May 24 – Karen O & Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs @ the Colonial in Pittsfield, Mass.
I’ve been a big fan of the YYYs for years, and was disappointed to have to miss their live show twice last year when they played in upstate NY. Lucky for me the Colonial is only 30 minutes from my house so I’ll have plenty of time to stalk the band after their acoustic set. “KARENNN!!! LET ME HAVE A LOCK OF YOUR HAIR!”

May 28 – 3o – Strangecreek Music Festival @ Camp Kee Wa Ne in Greenfield, Mass.
If you’re familiar with the site then you’re familiar with how much I love all Wormtown Productions. Exhibit A, Exhibit B, Exhibit C. ‘Nuff said.

June 19  – Phish @ Spac in Saratoga, N.Y.
This will be the 6th time I’ve seen this band in a justtt over a year. Not trying to be a cliche hippie, but the sheer awesomeness of their live show is undeniable. Sing it, Trey!

July 3-5 – Nateva Music Festival in Nateva, ME
This first-year festy comes on the heels of Rothbury’s heartbreaking cancellation a few months ago. And while one hit of acid and a Space & Drums jam later I can’t tell the difference between The Dead and Further (or fiction and reality), this new festival still has some big shoes to fill.

July 25 – Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros
Opted out of seeing Modest Mouse in Beantown this night and chose one of my more recent musical interests, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros. I must admit I haven’t given their latest release a full listen, but  I swear to God their single “Home” is going to be my wedding song (except that you can’t marry 20 cats aka what I’ll be surrounded by for my entire life).

August 11 – MGMT @ Mountain Park in Holyoke, Mass.
I’m curious to see this new venue that’s pulling in not only MGMT this summer, but the Flaming Lips, moe., Willie Nelson and the Counting Crows. I’m also curious to see MGMT live because I hear they’re not-so-hot, but if Paul has faith then so do I.

Woo! I’m already exhausted and I haven’t even started my musical extravaganza yet. Rest assured, faithful Bunty readers, that there will be as thorough of coverage as one dancing fool with a hand-held video camera can capture! And trust me, that’s a lot.

Nateva is definitely the best festival in the Northeast this year, I’ve been working street team for them and I’ve watched it grow into what will become a wonderful addition to the Northeastern summer music scene… Also, MGMT came to UNH for the “spring climax” not a great live band unfortunately, I was optimistic but me and all my friends agreed that they are just one of those bands that will remain famous for their recorded music rather than their stage presence.
