Wow. My beat on Buntology.com is addiction. Does that mean the Bunts will pay for me to experiment with all kinds of substances and see if I get hooked? (We won’t pay, but we’ll help you. In the name of science!) Always wanted to try the RoboTrip. You know, when you guzzle a whole bottle of Robitussin, and 10 minutes later you’re on Mars, making friends with E.T.
Whereas John Lennon is widely considered the “political one,” penning songs like “Revolution” and “Give Peace a Chance,” sweet Sir Paul is now presenting an alternative history. In a forthcoming interview with Prospect magazine, McCartney claims to have been the catalyst for the group’s anti-war position.“Just when we were getting to be well-known, someone said to me: ‘Bertrand Russell is living not far from here in Chelsea, why don’t you go and see him?'” McCartney said. Russell, then in his 90s, was a prominent philosopher and activist. “So I just took a taxi down there and knocked on the door.”“He was fabulous. He told me about the Vietnam war – most of us didn’t know about it, it wasn’t yet in the papers – and also that it was a very bad war.”That, McCartney explained, was enough. Filled with idealism, conviction and, er, a smattering of current events, “I remember going back to the studio either that evening or the next day and telling the guys, particularly John, about this meeting and saying what a bad war this was.”“We sort of stumbled into things,” McCartney admitted. While it’s John Lennon who has retained the reputation for rabble-rousing, “I politicized the Beatles,” McCartney insisted.
“I saw her awkwardly standing there” is the funniest thing I have read in a long time. I may actually have to leave work I am laughing so hard! Anyway, don’t care, don’t care, don’t care.. love Paul because he remains the Pul we all loved. I can forgive him just about anything because he reminds me of my youth and all that the Beatles were and that whole time.
John was great too but he treated his first born like crap and I sometimes can’t forget that in my idolization of him. Ah well, now Jim Carrey? Can’t stand his movies. I try.. really I do. Something about him just annoys me.
WOW patrick this is very very very amusing.
first of all:
1. i’m not part of many facebook groups, but i have been a member of “nickelback is the worst band ever” for about five years now. “But we’ve all got skeletons in our closet. Unfortunately, mine is an actual skeleton in the form of Chad Kroeger.” – priceless
2. jim carrey and jenny mccarthy have been dating for a long time, and i can only respect him for that.
3. don’t even step to my knowledge of the beatles (not like you were, but even if you were thinking about it). but lets give george some props for once. he’s the one who brought all the sweet shit to the band (like drugs, the maharishi and the sitar!)
Nickelback Sucks
hey I own 2 Nickelback cds and proud of it!
is anyone surprised by Jackie’s comment?
Not at all
Angela, Actually George was my favorite growing up. I thought he was freaking funny, very sarcastic. He didn’t take his fame too seriously. … Jenny McCarthy, remember when she was on that show Singled Out on MTV, or were you too young?
And Jackie, Two Nickelback CDs? I own 3 Ja Rule CDs (MURRDDDDDA!!!!!) so we’ve all got shitty music in our library. And I heard you like Radiohead, so it’s all good. You know your shit.
Liking Radiohead is nothing to brag about either.
